Trek the Grand Canyon and behold one of nature’s most magnificent spectacles. Bask in a shimmering desert oasis, follow winding mountain trails past magnificient waterfalls, venture into a narrow slow canyon and behold awe-inspiring vistas of sun-parched red sandstone.

Join us for a challenge you’ll never forget and help us care for more people living with a terminal illness.

Itinerary

Day 1

Depart UK to Phoenix, Arizona

We depart London for our flight to Phoenix, Arizona. On arrival we’ll be transferred to our hotel where we’ll meet our guides and have a briefing about the exciting challenge ahead.

Day 2

Phoenix – Oak Creek

10km

After an early breakfast we transfer through the Sonoran Desert to Sedona. From here we have an acclimatisation trek of about 10km along Oak Creek.

After lunch, we transfer to our campsite at the Grand Canyon South Rim.

Day 3

Descend to the bottom of the Grand Canyon

16-18km

Our first day at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon takes us to the heart of the park, the Bright Angel Trail. Our final destination is flexible; Plateau Point is a popular end point where brave souls can inch towards the edge to catch a glimpse of the mighty Colorado River, or you can rest in the shade of gigantic cottonwood trees at Indian Garden.

After our lunch, we begin a challenging 4.5 mile climb back up to the rim and on to our campsite.

Day 4

South Kaibab Trail

9km

An early start as we pack up camp and descend again into the depths of the Grand Canyon. Today’s route brings us down the South Kaibab Trail, part of the trans-canyon trail system that hikers use for rim-to-rim attempts. We pass the aptly named Ooh-Aah Point, then descend further to rest, relax, and take in the views at Cedar Ridge.

Once back at the rim, we enjoy our last views and have lunch before transferring to Zion National Park where we camp overnight.

Day 5

Hike Water Canyon to Canaan Mountain

15km

This morning we have a short transfer to the start of our trek in the incredible Water Canyon, a slot-canyon desert oasis tucked in the Canaan Mountain Wilderness south of Zion.

We walk mountain paths that lead past spectacular waterfalls and allow us to glimpse into the depths of a narrow slot-canyon. We’ll find ourselves totally absorbed throughout the journey as stunning vistas unfold.

Overnight camp in Zion national park.

Day 6 – 8

Middle Emerald Pool and Scout’s Lookout

10km

Day 6: The final day of our epic challenge! After a short transfer, we start our trek along the Virgin River. The trail then climbs a series of switchbacks called Walter’s Wiggles. These 21 switchbacks are very tight and you gain elevation rapidly, ending with amazing views at Scout’s Lookout.

After descending back down towards the Grotto, we transfer to Las Vegas where we’ll enjoy our celebration dinner. We stay overnight in a hotel.

On day 7 we transfer back to the airport for our return flight to the UK. We arrive back in London on day 8.
